During this topic, we have been learning all about WWI. We explored weaponary, the countries involved and the uniform worn. We were lucky enough for one of our pupil's granny to come in and teach us about her family history in the war. She brought in lots of resources such as the uniform, letters, an old bullet and a helmet. Here are some photographs of us.
As part of this topic, we invited Hannah and Bill from Beamish into our classroom to teach us all about the different roles of men and women in The Great War. We have been learning how the women took over the men's roles when they went to war and how when the war ended they returned to their pre-war roles (cleaning the house, cooking the dinner and looking after the children). We went to Beamish museumn to reinact what it would have been like for both genders. Here are some photographs of us when Beamish came to visit us.

On 11th November at 11am, Year 6 led the whole school and parents in a Remembrance Service on the yard. They spoke so clearly and with such respect. They were a credit to our school. Well done Year 6.
